GTM Intern, Product Marketing and Customer Development
Posted May 12, 2026
About the role
SteelTree is hiring a GTM Intern to support product marketing, growth, customer development, content, research, outreach, and early product-led growth efforts.
This role is for someone who wants real startup experience and is excited by the work of bringing a new product to market. You will work directly with the founding team and help with the day-to-day work behind early growth: researching markets, building target lists, writing messaging, supporting outreach, learning from customer conversations, tracking what works, and helping more users get value from the product.
SteelTree is a product-led company, so this role is not just about outreach or lead generation. It is about helping connect marketing, product usage, user feedback, onboarding, content, and customer development into one growth motion.
Hours: 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on the person.
Location: Hybrid in Los Angeles. We meet in person about once a week. This is an LA-area hybrid role, not remote anywhere in the US. US-based only, no visa sponsorship at this time.
Compensation: Paid internship. Rate discussed in interview.
What you'll do
You will support the GTM side of the business across product marketing, growth, customer research, and product-led growth.
That includes helping create content, testing messaging, researching target companies, supporting LinkedIn and email outreach, helping improve landing page ideas, following up with users, capturing customer feedback, and identifying patterns from conversations and product activity.
The goal is to help SteelTree build a repeatable growth motion around product usage, clear messaging, customer learning, and strong follow-up.
What you'll work on
- Research target companies, industries, and buyer segments
- Build lists of potential users, companies, and customer profiles
- Support LinkedIn outreach, email outreach, and follow-up
- Help write short-form content, posts, emails, landing page copy, and campaign ideas
- Support product marketing around use cases, messaging, and positioning
- Help track which messages, channels, and audiences get the strongest response
- Help invite users to try the product and give feedback
- Support customer discovery calls and product feedback sessions
- Capture notes from customer conversations
- Identify common objections, use cases, and buying signals
- Help analyze signups, activation, traffic sources, and user behavior
- Support growth experiments across content, outreach, onboarding, and product-led motion
- Work with the founding team to improve messaging, positioning, and customer understanding
What we're looking for
- Strong communicator
- Clear writer
- Curious, organized, and willing to learn fast
- Interested in startups, AI, software, product marketing, growth, sales, or customer development
- Comfortable researching companies, people, industries, and markets
- Comfortable reaching out to potential users
- Able to follow up consistently
- Able to test ideas and learn from results
- Comfortable working in a small team where priorities move quickly
- Interested in product-led growth and how product usage turns into growth
- High ownership, strong work ethic, and willingness to figure things out
